Scraps of Darkness - September Design Team Reveal "The Black Album" Kit

The Scraps Of Darkness September Kit~The Black Album yet is absolutely fantastic - and so much fun to create with! It is full of amazing My Mind's Eye Chalk Studio and Teresa Collins Memorabilia papers and so many fabulous, coordinating embellishments to go along with them! I've already revealed two layouts with this kit (see here and here) - and have another layout and an Off-the-Page project to share with you for today's "Official Design Team Reveal"!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quality Memories & Good Times Layout
We took my son to the Drive-In movies for the first time this summer and had such a fun family outing! A friendly stranger took a photo of the three of us - so it was nice to have a family photo to remember the occasion! I did some masking with molding paste and a Prima stencil to start off the layout and then layered lots of kit papers & borders and some Prima packaging from the kit too!
Here is a close-up of some of the masking and some of the layering/ embellishments. I really loved the Teresa Collins Die-Cuts and border strips included in the kit and Embellishment Add-On - they were so fun to create layers with!
I added a manilla tag to the Webster's Pages pocket. Instead of traditional journalling, I printed off the logo for the Drive-In Theatre and the two movie posters for the movies we saw.
Photo Organizer
For my second project today, I made a photo organizer. I often have photos leftover after doing layouts and they just lie around until I take the time to store them properly, so I made this to have someplace safe to keep them until they can be filed properly.
Here are some close-ups of the photo-orgaziner!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today - I hope you liked my projects!
I am hosting a Tag Trade in the Scraps of Darkness Forum -  I encourage everyone to join in - it is SO much fun (and you don't have to be a kit subscriber). You get to share your Art with a Scrappy friend and you get to look forward to some happy mail yourself!
Happy Haunting Halloween ATC - Scraps of Darkness ATC Swap
Another quick share of a Happy Haunting Halloween ATC I made for my good friend Monica for the Scraps of Darkness ATC Swap this month! I LOVE Halloween - so this was so much fun to make!
With the exception of the Jenni Bowlin Spook Bingo Card, all the paper elements on this layout are from Graphic 45's Happy Haunting collection. I fussy cut the moon and the fence/gate and inked all the papers with Distress Ink in Black Soot. There is some masking with a Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Template (Mini Church Windows) and some homemade black texture paste too! The bubble stickers are by Making Memories.
I hope Monica likes her Halloween ATC!
A Ladies' Diary Dressform Tag - Scraps of Darkness Tag Trade
A really quick share today of a tag I created for the August/September Tag Trade over in the Scraps of Darkness forum. This time around, I am trading with Mandy (aka KashaGray) - so I wanted to go very girly with this tag - lots of lace, flowers and pearls! I hope Mandy loves it!
For the base of the tag, I used a printable dressform I found on Pinterest. I then did some masking with Finnabair's 6x6 Elementals Doily mask (by Prima) and some molding paste mixed with Luminarte Primary Elements Artists Pigments in Mandarin Blush. I used some gorgeous lace from Tresors de Luxe Etsy on the bottom of the tag and also added some white pom-pom ribbon along the bottom of the tag. I also used the pom-pom ribbon and a white pearl strand as the tag's hanger (though this doesn't show well in the photo). I cut some images from Graphic 45's A Ladies' Diary papers and added some neutral flowers and some hanging pearls.
I am hosting the October/November Tag Trade in the Scraps of Darkness forum - stop by and play along! You don't have to be a kit subscriber to participate in our challenges - and you'll have a blast!
You are my Favorite Memory ~Scraps of Darkness~
I have another layout created with the incredible Scraps of Darkness September Kit The Black Album to share with you today. I made this layout based on the current challenge at Once Upon a . . . Sketch. This photo of my son was taken on a trip to one of his favourite local parks - it is one of those lucky shots you get that turns into a priceless, perfect photo! I actually did some handwritten journalling on this layout (which is very rare for me); the journalling reads, "You are such an amazing, happy little boy and I am so lucky to be your Mom! You are my everything!" Here is my layout and the OUAS sketch that inspired it!
I used the kit's Teresa Collins Memorabilia collection papers and  started out by doing some masking with a The Crafter's Workshop (TCW) 12 x 12 Template (Damask) and some homemade black texture paste. I then did some more masking with a 6 x 6 TCW Template (Harlequin) and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist (Tropicana Teal). Then I worked on the layering with the Memorabilia  papers, die cuts and border accents, as well as Prima Everyday Vintage Chalkboard Notecards. I used some flowers, a Webster's Pages cameo and the amazing stick-pin included in the Embellishment Add-on to finish off the layout. Here are a couple of close-ups!
Sweet {Kitten}
I have a new layout of our new kitten to share with you today. After the loss of our 18-year old cat  Teezer this month, we decided to get a new kitten and found this beautiful grey tabby, who we have named Sherlock. I took this picture of Sherlock on the day we brought him home and couldn't wait to scrap it - he is such a little sweetie! I am playing along with the challenge on the 13 Arts blog this month and used 13 Arts All is Love papers and lots of mediums to create this layout!
The 13 Arts Challenge was to use two different stamps, two different mediums and this sketch:
I kept my layout pretty close to the sketch and used Molding Paste with a Prima 12 x 12 stencil, Luminarte Sparkling H2O watercolours (background), black mist, soft lead artist pencil and three different Prima stamps designed by Finnabair. Here are some close-ups of the different elements included on the layout.
And here is a close-up of the photo cluster - so can you can see just how sweet our little Sherlock is!
I also used this layout to kick off my team's Round Robin this month at the Scraps of Darkness Forum!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I appreciate your visits and comments so much!
Scraps of Darkness September Reveal ~ The Black Album Kit ~
Hello Scrappy Friends! Today, I am sharing a layout created with the utterly fantastic Scraps of Darkness September Kit ~The Black Album~This kit includes beautiful paper lines this month from Teresa Collins "Memorbilia" paper collection and My Mind's Eye "Chalk Studio" collection, along with some beautiful black and white papers from Imaginisce's "Black Ice" collection.
For my first project, I did a layout using this month's sketch, designed by Suepup.  Stop by the Scraps of Darkness forums and play along with this month's sketch - you do not have to be a kit subscriber to play along and you could win a great prize!
The photo is of my son and was taken last Spring on a trip to the library (one of his favourite weekly excursions). It is such a cute photo and deserves to be the centre of attention on this layout - which is why the photos are the only colour on the layout! I did some masking with a Prima stencil and Shimmerz Texturez in Gritty Graphite and some misting with the Heidi Swapp mist (Tinsel) included in the Colour Add-on. Then some fun embellishing with some of the kit embellishments (how perfect is the frog on a bicycle flair button?!?!) and some items from my stash.
The September SOD kit is perfect for this month's bold, monochromatic mood board at the Scrap Around the World challenge blog - where I've been itching to play along, so I am submitting this layout for their challenge.
Scrap Around the World - September 2013 Mood Board
I am also submitting it for this month's Scrap Africa challenge - Washi Tape and Twine!
I can't wait to get back to creating with this kit - it has SO many possibilities! Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Vintage Mini-Album ~ Imaginarium Designs & Scraps of Darkness ~
Today, I am sharing with you a Vintage Mini-Album, created using Tim Holtz Idea-ology Cabinet Cards (included in the Scraps of Darkness August Embellishment Add-on) and lots of Imaginarium Designs Chipboard! This is the first mini-album I have ever done and I am so happy with how it turned out - it was super easy to put together and the Imaginarium Designs chipboards were the perfect way to embellish the album pages without adding too much bulk. All the chipboard elements in the album were inked with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and then dry-brushed with Luminarte Silks Acrylic Glaze in Emperor's Gold.
For the cover, I used the Imaginarium Designs Edward Relief Corners, which fit perfectly along the top and bottom of the Cabinet Card. I also added a resin frame, treated with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo and with some gold highlights using Luminarte Silks Acrylic Glaze in Emperor's Gold - I then painted the frame with Mod Podge Matte to seal the colour. I added some gorgeous Prima roses and some Petaloo flowers (SOD August Flower Add-on), which I sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Nougat and then splashed with some very strongly brewed instant coffee. The lace on the frame and on the album rings was also dyed with the instant coffee. Along with the lace, the brown tulle and twine (included in the August SOD Creativity Add-on) make a great embellishment for the album rings. Finally, I added a few Idea-ology metal trinkets by Tim Holtz, as well as a Prima Junkyard Findings Special Screw to use to tie the album closed.
For the interior pages, I used a variety of Imaginarium Designs Chipboard to embellish each page. I also did plenty of distressing of the Cabinet Cards by splashing them with brewed instant coffee and adding coffee rings. In keeping with the Vintage theme of the album, I printed all the photos for the album in sepia-tones.
A 'Recipe Card Tag' with lots of fussy cut elements from The Farmhouse Paper Company "Country Kitchen" papers, some texture paste used with the awesome stencil included in the SOD kit and some misting (Lindy's Stamp Gang), distressing and fun embellishments!
