Dreams & Wishes ~ Scraps of Darkness

Today, I am sharing one more layout made with the Scraps of Darkness May Kit "Twisted & Tangled". I used the Fabscraps papers, chipboard title and layering pieces from the kit, along with some flowers, mists, washi tape, and mixed media supplies from my stash.

I based this layout on the July Sketch at Scrap 365.

Mixed Media Tag ~ Scraps of Darkness

I am sharing a mixed media tag created with the Scraps of Darkness Twisted & Tangled Kit (May 2014). I used the 7 Dots Studio paper, cheesecloth, Petaloo flowers, Dylusions Mists and Shimmerz Paint from the kit, along with a few items from my stash, to create this tag.
I started out by gluing the 7 dots studio paper to a plain tag base. I added cheesecloth, flowers, pearls, chipboard and butterflies to the tag and then misted everything with Dylusions Ink Spray in Posioned Jade. I added some white gesso tot he chipboard, butterflies and pearls and blended it on the tag. Then I misted again with the Jade Dylusions. Once that was dry, I added the sentiment and some of the Shimmerz Paint in Green Olive to the Chipboard and on top of the sentiment to help it blend. I did some masking on the right side of the tag with a Prima mask and some Heavy Gel Medium - to which I added clear microbeads. I then added some Prima Pebbles and clear half beads from a previous SOD kit. Finally I misted the left side of the tag and splattered the whole tag with Dylusions Ink Sprays in Slate Grey and Black Marble. Here are some close-ups.

Moments ~ Scraps of Darkness

June has been an incredibly busy month for me and I am late in sharing another layout created with the fabulous Scraps of Darkness May "Twisted and Tangled" Kit! I just love the 7 Dots Studio Cold Country papers in this kit and I had so much fun playing with different media on this layout - including two of the gorgeous colours of Shimmerz included in the kit (Sugar Plum - Main Kit and Ultra Marine - Colour Add-on).
I started with some gesso on the base page and then layered strips of the Cold Country papers with some strips cut from the cheesecloth in the kit. I added a light coat of gesso to the layers and then used the Shimmer paints to paint along the edges of the strips. I did some masking with light molding paste and some stamping with the butterfly stamp and sentiment included in the Embellishment Add-on. I wanted to add some more texture to the layout, so I added some lines of heavy gel medium and sprinkled clear microbeads on them - LOVE how this added texture and shine to the layout. Finally, I added in some flowers from the Main Kit and Flower Add-on and one of the Prima Ingvild Bolme Junkyard Findings Jeans plates as embellishments. Here are some close-ups!

My first layout with the Twisted and Tangled Kit features a fun photo of my son acting silly - sticking out his tongue that had turned blue thanks to his freezie! I had lots of fun playing with the 7 Dots Studio papers and the Dylusions from the Colour-Add-On - adding lots of texture, colour and layers to this layout. I also used this month's SOD Sketch as the inspiration for the layout design. Here is my layout and this month's sketch!
And here are some close-ups of my layout!

With Love ~ Scraps of Darkness

I have another project created with the Scraps of Darkness April His & Hers Kit to show you today. After creating some Gothic ATCs and a couple of boyish layouts with this kit, I decided to change things up and create a romantic layout featuring a honeymoon photo of my husband and me.
I did some masking in the background with two The Crafter's Workshop Masks - one with Art Anthology Dimensional Paint in Truffle Velvet and the other with light molding paste then spritzed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Steampunk Sepia - I let some of the Steampunk Sepia  mist drip down the page as well. I used lots of distressed layers of the Prima Stationer's Desk collection papers and the Prima chalkboard paintables. I used a black and white photo to coordinate with the black elements in the layering - and scraped the edges of the photo with my distressing tool and then painted them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabio in Sandra Dee Sepia - I also splattered the layout with the Sandra Dee Sepia. The paper clips, gorgeous lace, ribbon and flowers from the kit - and the incredibly cool metal flower flourish - made embellishing this layout so fun! The title is a Stationer's Desk tag from the Embellishment Add-On - though I replaced the more rustic twine from the tag with the burgundy crinkle ribbon from the Main Kit. Here are some close-ups!

Snapshots ~ Scraps of Darkness and Imaginarium Designs

This layout was created with the Prima Stationer's Desk collection included in the Scraps of Darkness April His & Hers Kit, along with some Prima flowers and metal embellishments from previous kits and some Art Anthology dimensional paint from my stash. The fun photos of my son are from May the Fourth - hence the Star Wars shirt in the photos. . . May the Fourth be with you.....
I based this layout on the April SOD Sketch - I've used the masked rulers instead of paper strips. Once the gold masked areas dried, I rubbed them with Inka Gold in Hematite to get the silvery-gold combination. I stapled some of the ruler ribbon from the Main Kit to the layering and added in some Prima flowers a Prima clock (cut in half) from previous kits. I really wanted a lot of metallic elements in this layout! Before adding the photos, I splattered the layout with Gold Izink and Liquitex Acrylic Ink in Black Marble.
I used one of the Imaginarium Designs Snapshots Frames, which I painted with Art Anthology Gold Sorbet dimensional gel paint. This is the same paint I used for the ruler masking on the layout - I just love the metallic glittery finish. I added in one of the Tim Holtz clips from the Creativity Add-on to one of the pictures as another metallic element. Here are some close-ups!

Today ~ Scraps of Darkness

I have a layout created with the stunning Scraps of Darkness April His & Hers Kit to share with you today. This kit is a dream to work with - I just love the Prima papers and embellishments and have used the Stationer's Desk collection (along with some Cartographer flowers) to create this layout, featuring a sweet photo of my son.
I started out layering strips, squares and circles to create my background and the small clusters on either side of the page. Once I had the background papers in place, I rubbed all the layered areas with Inka Gold Champagne rub included in the Creativity Add-On. I did some stamping with a Prima Clear Stamp from my stash and embellished with some Stationer's Desk Flowers, Tags & Tickets, Cartographer flowers and some black rhinestones and heavy black upholstery thread from my stash. As a final touch, I did some splattering with Dylusions Ink in Black Marble.  Here are some close-ups!

Spring ~ Mixed Media ATC

A super-quick share today - of a mixed media ATC I created for the Scraps of Darkness/Scraps of Elegance March-April ATC Swap. I created this fun ATC using Imaginarium Designs Chipboard, some Prima flowers and some Authentique letter stickers. I used several different colours of Silks Acrylic glazes to paint the ATC.
Thanks for popping in today! Happy Spring!
