Follow your dreams. . . ~ C'est Magnifique
I'm quite late posting this, but better late than never, right?
I decided that November would be my last month designing for C'est Magnifique Kits - so I am sharing one of my final layouts created for the CM Design Team. Due to a shipping error with my DT package, I only had November's Main Kit to work with, so I have used it plus some leftover items from previous CM Kits and some media from my personal stash to create my layout. This is a sweet photo of my son on his fourth birthday - and I hope he takes the sentiment to heart and follows his dreams...
This was my first opportunity to work with Blue Fern Studios' papers and I have to say that they are just amazing - they are gorgeous and such a nice heavy weight that they are perfect for mixed media scrapbooking!
Thanks for popping by my blog today!

I'm Gonna Fly Like a Bird Through the Night ~ Art Journal Page - C'est Magnifique
This is my final project with the C'est Magnifique September Kit - an Art Journal page inspired by the song Chandelier by Sia.
I started a new art journal using an old book I picked up for free at work (the benefits of working at a university - people often leave boxes of old textbooks up for grabs). I started out by priming the pages with a light coat of gesso and a light misting and splatter with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Wild Honeysuckle Coral (stash). I also did some stamping with the Prima stamps and Dark Brown ink pad included in the Main Kit. I added the Prima Canvas ATC to the right page and bits of canvas peeled off the ATC around both pages. Then I used the Coffee Dylusions from the Magnifque Mixed Media (MMM) Kit on the background. I embellished the journal page with the fussy cut compass and tags from the Riddersholm Design paper/tag sheet and added the birds from the MMM (painted with gesso and then misted with the Lindy's Coral Mist) and the Marion Smith Designs Metal Filagree Doilies from the Embellishment Add-on (EAO). Finally, I added the song lyrics to the canvas ATC using the Authentique Mini-Alphas from the Main Kit. Here are a couple of close-ups!

I find so much inspiration in music lyrics - I think I'll keep this art journal dedicated to music! Can't wait to work in it again! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Me at 39 - C'est Magnifique
Today, I'm sharing another layout created with the C'est Magnifique September Kit. This is a rare layout for me - as it actually features a selfie photo - which is not something I usually do (I hate having my picture taken). So here you are. . . a layout featuring Me . . at 39.
I loved the hints of pink in this Riddersholm Design paper and decided to play on those pinks in the design of my layout. I started off with a light coat of white gesso (stash) in the design area, which I dried and then misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Bodacious Blush (stash). I did some stamping with some Bo Bunny Stitches stamps (stash) and the Colorbox Blackberry Ink from the Main Kit and also used the Prima script stamp from the Main Kit with the Colorbox Dark Brown Ink (also Main Kit).
With the background 'done', I cut some more of the Riddersholm papers into strips/squares to form the mat for my (partially fuss-cut) photo. I added in some white thread (stash), flowers from the Main Kit and Magnifique Mixed Media (MMM) Kit and a large Prima butterfly from the Embellishment Add-on (EAO) and then tucked a few of the Epoxy Stickers from the EAO into my larger flower cluster. I finished off the embellishing with a few pink/clear rhinestones (stash) and a splatter of Coffee Dylusions (MMM). The title is a combination of the Prima wood veneer letters from the EAO and the Authentique alpa stickers from the Main Kit.
After 'finishing' the layout, I decided I wanted more pink - so I went back in with the Magenta Pan Pastel from the MMM Kit and rubbed the colour all around/under the photo and embellishments. A final splatter with some more Coffee Dylusions and the layout was truly finished! Here are some close-ups!

My Heart - C'est Magnifique
This is the first layout I created with the C'est Magnifique September Kit - you may have seen it as part of my introduction to the C'est Magnifique Design Team, but today I'm sharing the full details and close-ups with you.
First, used the gorgeous Riddersholm Design Tailgate Marked paper, along with the Prima mask from the Magnifique Mixed Media (MMM) Kit and some modelling paste from my stash. Then I added some of the Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Weathered Wood over the masked area to tint the modelling paste blue. I also did some background stamping with the Prima script stamp from the Main Kit and some Ingvild Bolme White Chalk Ink. Next, I added some white tissue paper from my stash and adhered it using gel medium (stash) and then added some bronze microbeads (stash) on top of the tissue using the gel medium. I tinted the Prima resin frame from the Embellishment Add-on (EAO) with the Coffee Dylusions (MMM). The lace circles on either side of the frame (EAO) are tinted with Distress Stain in Tarnished Bronze (Stash). The gorgeous Blue Fern Chipboard was inked with Distress Stain in Weathered Wood and then I added a few hints of the Tarnished Bronze Distress Stain as well. I finished off the embellishing with the Marion Smith Filagree Butterflies (MMM) and some half pearls (stash). Finally, I added the title "My Heart" using the Authentique Mini Alpha stickers included in the Main Kit. Here are some close-ups of the layout!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Be sure and come back again over the next few days as I have a couple more projects with the September Kit to share with you!

Here is my project for the Blog Hop!
Here is my project for the Blog Hop!
I was inspired by the organic feel of the pattern in the Couture Creations embossing folder to create an "earthy" mixed media tag! This tag was so fun and easy to create with the Imaginarium Designs Chipboards and Couture Creations Die and Embossing Folder - here is a quick step by step:
- Emboss a piece of paper slightly larger than your tag base with the Couture Creations Embossing Folder - I have used the Large Peacock Fans Folder from "The Marriot Collection". Glue the embossed paper to your tag base and trim around the edges and punch the hole.
- Gently ink the surface of the embossed tag - this will really bring out the embossing - also ink the edges. I've used Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.
- If you wish, add some more detail with a mask and 3D paint - I've used the Mini Leaf Frame 6x6 template from The Crafter's Workshop with Art Anthology Velvet Dimensional Paint in Basil.
- Cut three small frames using the Couture Creations Elegant Square die from "The Van Roe Collection". Layer the three frames using 3D foam adhesive. The layered frames become the centerpiece of the tag. I added flowers, fussy cut butterflies and a large square brad inside and around the frame as embellishments.
- Now for your chipboard elements - mist two of the Imaginarium Designs Art Deco Embellishments - I've used Art Anthology Colorations Spray in Mocha. Paint the Imaginarium Designs Word "grow" (I've used the same paint as I used for the masking), then add Ranger Crackle Accents to the word.
- Add the chipboard embellishments to the tag, layering the title on top of one of the Art Deco flourishes. I've also added a brad to the centre of each of the Art Deco Embellishments - they frame the brads perfectly!
- As a final step, if you want to - splatter your tag with a few drops of the same mist you used on your chipboards.
Here are some close-ups of the tag!

Vintage Steampunk Dress - Mixed Media Canvas ~ Scraps of Darkness
I have a mixed media canvas to share with you today that I had so much fun making with papers, embellishments and media from the June Perfectly Stunning Kit from Scraps of Darkness. One of my favourite 'paper artists' is Gabrielle Pollacco - and my canvas was inspired by this tutorial on her youtube channel. So, here is my 'darker' interpretation of her tutorial - a Vintage Steampunk Dress Mixed Media Canvas.
I started off by adding some bits of drywall tape to the canvas and then priming it with the Art Anthology Gesso included in the Creativity Add-on. Then I misted the canvas with three Lindy's Stamp Gang Mists (from my stash) - Midnight Rendezvous Raven and Cocoa Bean Copper Starbursts and Steel Shimmer Glitz Spritz. I added torn bits of the "Chrononaut" paper from the Bo Bunny Somewhere in Time collection which I distressed and inked with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I added the torn papers to the canvas with matte Mod Podge - I love how they look like old leather! I then did some masking with a mask from my stash and a mix of two of the Art Anthology paints from the Colour Add-on - the Stone Effects Dimensional Medium in Sandstone mixed with the Velvet Dimensional Paint in Kona. Here are some different angles of the full canvas.
Now we come to the dress! I fussy-cut the corset from the "Elegance" Bo Bunny paper and inked it with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I added some dimension to the bodice by flipping it over and rubbing 'appropriate' areas with a ball tool. I created the skirt using a section of a sewing pattern and some black lace from a previous SOD Kit (Oct. '13) and splattered it with the black and copper mists. I added the chain from the Creativity Add-on to the watch fob from the Embellishment Add-on and used it as a belt for the dress. To embellish the canvas, I added the small black wings (Embellishment Add-on) and Prima flowers (Main Kit & Flower Add-on). The letters for the title (inked with distress ink and painted with black/copper mist mixture) are from my stash and the bling is from a previous SOD Kit. I also added in parts of a Dusty Attic Chickenwire panel that are embossed with Distress Embossing Powder in Black Soot. Here are some close-ups of the dress and embellishments on the canvas.
