Steampunk Costume Accessory - Altered Toy Pop Gun ~ Creative Embellishments

Happy Halloween Crafty Friends! Today I'm sharing an Altered Toy Pop Gun that would be the perfect accessory to a Steampunk-Inspired Halloween Costume! I started off with a cheap plastic foam-dart gun from the dollar store - it was originally fluorescent orange and green - and added several different sizes of Creative Embellishments Gears, a glass bottle as a scope and some metal embellishments from Prima Marketing. Once I was happy with the arrangement of the chipboard and embellishments, I painted everything with Prima Art Basics Black Gesso and then dry-brushed on Prima Art Basics White Gesso to bring out the details. Next, I dry-brushed the gun with Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Paint in Steampunk Copper. I added some additional colour with Prima Art Alchemy Waxes - Antique Brilliance Lucky Emerald and Mystic Turquoise and Metallique Bronze Age. Finally, I finished off the project by adding two clear Prima Melange Art Pebbles to either end of the glass bottle 'scope'.

Steampunk Dress Form ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi There, today I'm sharing an altered dress form with you! I started out with a plain kraft dress form, painted it with some Heavy Black Gesso and dressed it up with papers from Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante and Steampunk Spells Collections (all the papers are inked with Distress Ink in Black Soot). Add in some awesome Gears and Tracks from the CE Create Your Own Cluster set as embellishments and the Steampunk Dress Form is fully outfitted! 

For the gears around the waist of the Dress Form and on the Top Hat , I used Stampendous Aged Copper Embossing Enamel. I also used two feathers from the CE Masquerade Masks set to decorate the hat - I painted these with Prima Art Extravagance Metallique Paints in Royal Red and Rich Turquoise - and then dry brushed them with Metallique Paint in Steampunk Copper. I painted the goggles from the Steampunk Hat Set with the Steampunk Copper paint and then added glossy accents to the screw details around the goggles. (The Top Hat was made using an .svg by Snapdragon Snippets cut on my Silhouette Cameo.)

To decorate the base of the dress form, I used some different sized chipboard gears and a chain border. I painted these pieces with Prima Art Extravagance Metallique Paint in Steampunk Copper. Then, I mixed some of the Metallique Light Patina paint with Prima Texture Powder and added that to the gears and chain. Finally, I finished the gears off by dry brushing them with some Metallique Paints in Emerald Green and Dark Velvet.  

I finished off the dressform with a chain and pocket watch around the waist and an old knob (painted Steampunk Copper) on the top. There are lots of pictures below so you can see all the details!

Rusty Patina Altered Denim Journal Cover ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there! Today I'm sharing a fun Altered Denim Journal Cover with you - created using lots of amazing Creative Embellishments chipboard!

I started off altering the Prima/Finnabair Denim journal by using a Prima Stencil along with some Prima Art Basics Heavy Body Gel mixed with Prima Art Ingredients Mica Powder in Rust. Once the stenciled areas had dried, I added some bits of lace and trim and then started adding my Creative Embellishments Chipboard pieces, as well as some metal embellishments by Prima and trinkets from my stash. I've used the following CE chipboard pieces:

• Rectangle Chain Frames
• Circle Chain Frames
• Steampunk Gear Corners 2 (smallest piece)
• Gears 1 1/2 in.
• Wind Me Up

Once I was happy with the placement of all the chipboard pieces and embellishments, I covered everything with a coat of Prima Art Basics Clear Gesso. Then, I sprayed the cover with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Cocoa Bean Copper. I used Prima Art Extravagance Rust Effects Paste to add the rust-look to the chipboard and then used some Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paint in Light Patina mixed with Prima Art Ingredients Texture Powder to add the green-tinted patina effect. I then dry brushed with Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paints in Light Patina and Ancient Coin in places to enhance some embellishments. Finally, I finished off the cover using some Prima Art Ingredients Copper Glass Glitter applied with Prima Art Basics Soft Matte Gel. Here are some close-ups so you can see all the details.

"Two Minutes to Midnight" - Steampunk Masquerade Mask

I love Halloween - so this month when I saw that Canvas Corp Brands October Challenge was to create a Masquerade Mask, I knew I had to play along! I had an inexpensive (dollar store) mask just sitting around in my stash waiting to be altered - so this was the perfect opportunity to upcycle it!

 I used Creative Embellishments Chipboard to give the mask a Steampunk look. Once I had the composition in place, I painted the entire mask (which was originally silver) with Heavy Black Gesso. Next, I highlighted areas by dry-brushing elements with Heavy White Gesso. I used four colours of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Suede, Latte, Oriental Poppy and Haunted Shadow) to start adding colour to the mask. First, I sprayed the entire mask with the Suede Glimmer Mist. Then, I used the Latte mist around the bottom/middle. I used the Oriental Poppy mist along the outside edges and the two outside points of the mask. Finally, I used the Haunted Shadow mist up the middle of the mask. Once I was happy with the misting, I dry-brushed Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Acrylic Paints in coordinating colours (Brass Hardware, Royal Red, Blackberry and Ancient Coin) to add more pops of colour to the mask. Mermaid in a Bottle ~ Mixed Media Altered Bottle for Creative Embellishments

I have a fun new project to share with you, including a step-by-step Snapguide tutorial! I've used lots of Creative Embellishments chipboard elements, along with Graphic 45's Voyage Beneath the Sea collection papers and Prima Art Mediums to create this Mixed Media Altered Bottle!

I've used the following Creative Embellishments Chipboard elements on the bottle:

Clockwork Angel Altered Dress Form ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi Crafty Friends! Today, I have a project created for the Creative Embellishments Design Team to show you -  a dress form I altered using a whole lot of Creative Embellishments Chipboard pieces! I am calling this piece my Clockwork Angel! It was SO fun to make!

FRONT

I started off altering the dress form by gluing on the lace and all the chipboard items. I have used a variety of different sized of CE Gears around the entire dress form. I have also used the Bicycle Chain Borders, a Door Knocker, Clock Hands, and Keys. The winged CE Chipboard is the gorgeous Steampunk Heart with Wings - I added the top of one of the chipboard keys to this to make it look like you could turn the gears in the heart. Once all the chipboard pieces were in place, I added a few Prima metal embellishments and some half pearls and then started painting the dress form with both black and white gesso. I focused the black gesso on the bottom of the dress form and the white gesso on the top, blending them in the middle. Once the gesso dried, I sprayed the entire dress form with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst Mist in Steampunk Sepia. Once it was dry again, I started playing with colour using the new Finnabair Art Extravagance Metallique Paints by Prima. And I just KEPT playing with different colours until I was happy with the results. Finally, I added some Finnabair Art Extravagance Antique Silver Crackle Texture Paste in places and finished off the dress form with some Hematite glass beads. Imagine - Creative Embellishments January Challenge

Happy New Year Scrappy Friends! I'm so excited to share my first project as part of the Creative Embellishments Design Team! This project is part of the Creative Embellishments January Challenge - using the photo below as inspiration and circular elements on the project.

I was inspired by the Steampunk feeling of the January Challenge image and decided to create a fun Steampunk Canvas featuring my son. 

I've used a whole lot of different Creative Embellishments chipboard elements to create my project: pieces of the Harlequin Panel, the Steampunk Hat Set, Steampunk Wings Set 4, some of the 1-inch Gears, two of the Industrial Hanging Light Bulbs, and the Imagine title. The chipboard pieces were painted with black gesso and then treated with a combination four different colours of Inka Gold rubs, Gold and Copper Dimensional Paints, glossy accents and both holographic and Black Soot Distress embossing powders. I've also used Creative Embellishments Distressed Harlequin Stamp to emboss the pattern on the top hat! Here are some close-ups and different angles of the canvas!
