Sweetheart - Baby's 1st Year February Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there! I'm back with a new instalment in my "Baby's First Year" series of layouts. I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, and Time to Flourish) to create this layout, along with a Creative Embellishments Sweetheart chipboard title from the Valentine's Hashtags and a wood veneer heart from the Lover's Hearts Set 2.

I layered my papers and cut-out elements from the papers (all inked with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo), added the sweet photo of my son and then added the title and wood veneer heart to finish off the layout. The title was a bit too long, so I ended up cutting the hashtag off of it. I painted the sweetheart title and the heart with Prima Art Extravagance Metallique Paint in Royal Red and then inked them with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. New Beginnings - Baby's 1st Year January Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there! Today I'm back with a new installment in my "Baby's First Year" series of layouts. I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, Mother Goose, and Time to Flourish) to create this layout, along with two Spoons from the Creative Embellishments Small Cutlery set.

I painted the spoons with Prima Art Extravagance Metallique Paint in Silver Spoon and then dry-brushed two tones of Metallique blue paint (Midnight Sky and Rich Turquoise) on the handles. Once the paint was dry, I added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the spoons to make them look slightly tarnished. Here are some close-ups and different angles so you can see all the layers and details!

Believe - Baby's 1st Year December Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there Crafty Friends! Today I'm sharing another layout in my Baby's First Year series - created for the Creative Embellishments Design Team! Once again, I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, Place in Time, and St. Nicholas) to create this layout - keeping with the theme I'm using throughout the 12 months of the album!

I've used the CE Chipboard Holly and Berry Flourishes and the Believe title from the Inspire Word Set on this layout. I painted the chipboard elements with Prima Art Extravagance Metallique Acrylic Paints and inked them with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I added Crackle Accents to the Holly Branches and Glossy Accents to the Holly Berries. Here is a close-up and a couple of different angles so you can see all the details and layers.

Let it Snow ~ Creative Embellishments December Challenge

It's December 1st, which means a new challenge is up on the Creative Embellishments Blog. Here is this month's inspiration photo and the twist for this challenge is to use a border on your project.

I just loved this month's inspiration photo and have taken my inspiration from the colours and the glistening snowflakes to create this layout.

I've used an older Bo Bunny collection for this layout (Midnight Frost) because the colours were just perfect for the inspiration image and I promised myself that I would start using up my stash! I started off by whitewashing the dark blue background with some watered down gesso and layering some torn pieces to look like snow hills. I've used the CE Snowflake Stencil along with some white modelling paste on the blue background paper - and once the modelling paste was dry, I added some silver stickles to the snowflakes for a bit of sparkle. I also used the larger of the Snowflake Borders, the Falling Snow Set, and the Let it Snow title - I primed all these pieces with White Gesso and then embossed them with Stampendous Winter Wonderland Embossing Powder. I also added some Silver Stickles to the chipboard snowflakes. The embellishing for this layout was finished off with some tattered cheesecloth and silver sequins.

Timeless - Baby's 1st Year November Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there Crafty Friends! Today I'm sharing another layout in my Baby's First Year series - created for the Creative Embellishments Design Team! Once again, I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, and Place in Time) to create this layout - as I plan on keeping a standard theme throughout the 12 months of the album!

I used the Timeless title from the Small Moments Border Words for this layout and simply painted it with some dark brown Acrylic Paint. I used the Fall Frame 2 to frame the photo. I painted the frame with Acrylic Paints in Fall colours and then splattered it with Dylusions Ink in Ground Coffee and inked the edges with Distress Ink in Ground Espresso to make them look like crunchy/distressed fallen leaves.

Trick or Treat - Baby's 1st Year October Layout

Hi there Crafty Friends! Happy Halloween! I have a quick share for you today - my Baby's 1st Year Layout for October. I just love the funny look on my son's face in this picture from his first Halloween! Such a cutie!

Once again, I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, and Happy Haunting) to create this layout - and inked all the paper edges with Distress Ink in Ground Espresso. I used two chipboard Jolly Jack-o-Lanterns by Creative Embellishments to embellish the layout - I wanted these to look similar to those on the Happy Haunting paper, so I painted them with orange and green acrylic paint and backed them with some dark yellow paper - then I inked them with Ground Espresso Distress Ink and gave them a generous coat of crackle accents! September Memories - Baby's 1st Year September Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi There! Today, I'm sharing the second layout in my Baby's First Year series! Once again, I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, and Mother Goose) to create this layout - as I plan on keeping a standard theme throughout the 12 months of the album!

I've used the "memories" title from the CE Small Moments Border Words. I rubbed the title with Prima Art Alchemy Antique Brilliance Wax in Fire Ruby and Metallique Wax in Vintage Gold - I also inked the edges with some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo. I also used the beautiful CE Flourish 6, which I rubbed with Prima Art Alchemy Antique Brilliance Wax in Lucky Emerald - I also inked some of the flourish with the Vintage Photo Distress Ink. To finish off this flourish, I added some small fussy cut flowers from the G45 paper. Here are some close-ups/angles so you can see all the details!

Special Delivery - Baby's 1st Year August Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi there! Today I'm sharing a more 'traditional' layout with you that I created for the Creative Embellishments DT! I decided it was high time that I got around to scrapbooking monthly layouts for 'Baby's First Year' (my son just turned 7, so better late than never)! I love mixed media scrapbooking, but for the baby album I wanted to go with a simpler, more traditional style - especially since I want the pages to fit inside the album! I've used a combination of several Graphic 45 paper collections (A Place in Time, Children's Hour, Mother Goose, and Precious Memories) to create this layout.

I think this layout is a great example of how just a couple of pieces of chipboard can really 'make' the page - I've used two of the leafy branches from the Chipboard Branches (set of 3), which I painted with acrylic paint in tones to match the papers. I used a dark brown for the branches and sponged two tones of green onto the leaves. Then, I used the branches to 'suspend' the fussy-cuts from the Mother Goose papers on the page - the two branches frame the central portion of the layout to direct your eye to the picture. Here are some different angles and close-ups of the chipboard elements.

#1 (Goalie) Mixed Media Layout ~ Creative Embellishments July Challenge.

Happy Summer! Its July - which means Canada and 4th of July celebrations and lots of summer fun! This month's challenge on the Creative Embellishments Blog is to use the picture below to inspire your project - and the twist is to use Stars & Stripes on your project!

For this month's challenge, I was inspired to create this LO featuring my #1 star soccer goalie! I've used the CE chipboard Soccer Set #1, Soccer Flair, chipboard Nested Stars, wood veneer Stars, and chipboard Basic Alphabet. I painted the soccer net and soccer ball with Heavy White Gesso, then added silver metallic paint to the bars of the soccer net and black acrylic paint to sections of the soccer ball. I finished off the net by adding some white cheesecloth behind it to look like actual netting. I finished the soccer ball by adding some Glossy Accents. I embossed the chipboard and wood veneer stars with silver metallic embossing powder. I painted the #1 (from the Basic Alphabet) with blue acrylic paint and finished it with Glossy Accents. Finally, I completed the embellishment of the layout with a couple of pieces of soccer flair!

Now for my project! I've created a 12x12 Family Portrait Layout. When I saw the beautiful little bag of Green Acres Sequins from the SMS shop, I decided to use them as the basis for the colour palette for my layout; so I chose some Kaisercraft papers/ephemera in coordinating colours from their Heirloom collection and a background page from their Basecoat collection to create my layout. I started to create the background using Shimmerz Pasteez in A Little Nutty from the SMS shop along with the CE Crackled Brick Stencil. Then, I did some random stamping with Memento Rich Cocoa Dye Ink and two CE rubber stamps - Tire Track 1 Stamp and Distressed Script Stamp.

I love playing with different textures on layouts, so I've used torn strips of the Kaisercraft design paper along with some torn corrugated cardboard, torn/crumpled Small Glassine Bags from the SMS shop and misted Lace Paper Doilies from the SMS shop to create the cluster behind my photos. I misted the doilies with Lindy's Stamp Gang Mists in Steampunk Sepia and Rusty Lantern Lime. I inked the edges of some of the papers and the photos with Distress Ink in Ground Espresso. I also splattered the layout with the Rusty Lantern Lime mist and some Dylusions Spray Ink in Ground Coffee. 

Finally, to embellish the layout, I've used ephemera pieces from the Kaisercraft Heirloom collection, the sequins and Shooting Cork Stars from the SMS shop and two CE chipboard pieces - a Simple Key Hole Plate and Key (embossed with Distress Embossing Powder in Walnut Stain).

Let's Fly Away ~ Creative Embellishments and CSI #123

Hi Scrappy Friends! Today I'm sharing a layout I created for CSI: Colors, Story, Inspiration Case File #123 using the gorgeous Graphic 45 Artisan Style collection papers and a fantastic chipboard arch by Creative Embellishments.

Here's how I've "solved the case": The colours in the Artisan Style collection were absolutely perfect for this case file and I loved the triangular element to the roofs of the buildings on the paper. I started by brushing some heavy white gesso on the background page in the shape I wanted for my layout arrangement. I used a Martha Stewart scalloped edge punch and a ribbon-cut banner to create the foundation for my layering - all the papers were edged with Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy. I added washi tape with numbers and in a tape measure pattern.  I also added some vellum to the large fussy cut behind the photo to create a little spot for my journalling card. My journalling is in the form of a numbered list and is about the first tropical vacation my husband and I took together. 

I added the gorgeous Creative Embellishments chipboard Archway Style 2 in my layering to play up the architectural elements of the layout and draw more attention to the large fussy cut holding the photo. I mixed acrylic paint to get a light green colour to match the colour in the Case File Palette and then inked the edges of the chipboard piece with the Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.
