Love & Family - Large Photo Tags ~ Creative Embellishments March Challenge

It is March 1st already - and that means Spring is just around the corner - and a new challenge is up on the Creative Embellishments Blog! This month I was inspired by the colours and watercolour feeling of the inspiration photo. The twist for March is to show/tell why you feel lucky, so I chose photos of me with my husband ("love") and my son as a baby ("family") because I feel so lucky to have two such special guys in my life! This month, the colours in the CE Challenge also just happen to correspond to the colours of this month's Prima Product Pick - so I'll be entering these tags for the March PPP challenge.

Creative Embellishments Inspiration Photo

Prima Product Pick - March 2016
I've used two Prima Watercolor tags as the base for these - I stenciled each tag with a rose pattern stencil using Finnabair 3D Matte Gel and then misted them with two colours of Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst mists to get an ombre effect. The green tag was misted with Edelweiss Moss Green and Ponderosa Pines Olive; the pink tag was misted with Bodacious Blush and Bougainvillea Fuschia. I've layered papers and tags cut from the Prima Tea Thyme collection under the photos and splattered the paper with white gesso and Shimmerz Inklinz in Burnished Buckle. I have used two Creative Embellishments Door Knockers at the top of the tags and two Creative Embellishments Keys as part of my flower clusters. To alter the chipboard, I painted it with white gesso and then Shimmerz Inklinz in Burnished Buckle. I finished off the chipboard by adding some Antique Copper micro beads to them using Matte Gel Medium.
Here are some close-ups and different angles so you can see all the layers and details.

Mon Amour Layout ~ Creative Embellishments

Hi Scrappy Friends! Today, I'm sharing a "love" themed layout in the spirit of Valentine's day! I've used Graphic 45's Mon Amour paper collection together with the Creative Embellishments Full of Love Frame to scrapbook one of my favourite wedding photos.
I used the Creative Embellishments frame as the focal point of the layout, layering it with lots of fussy-cut flowers and cut-outs from the Graphic 45 papers.
To alter the frame, I started out with two coats of white gesso. Then I stamped and embossed with a script stamp and clear embossing powder. Finally, I painted the frame with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals in Queen of Hearts Red. Here's a close-up of a section of the frame so you can see the stamping!
And here are another couple of angles of the layout so you can see the layering!

I'm going to enter this in the Graphic 45 February Challenge #GiveLovewithGraphic45. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a fantastic Valentine's Day this year!

Best Friends ~ Scraps of Darkness

As promised, here is Part II of my Scraps of Darkness DT Reveal for the Style & Sophistication Kit. I created this layout using the gorgeous Authentique "Classique Elegant" collection and based it on this month's SOD sketch by Suepup.
I used the ombre paper and a Crafter's Workshop 12 x 12 mask, along with molding paste that I tinted with acrylic paint, to create the ombre Damask background. Once I had all the layers in place, but before adding the picture/embellishments, I splattered the LO with Lindy's Stamp Gang  Midnight Rendezvous Raven Starburst Mist (Colour Add-on).
The flower clusters are a combination of flowers from the January 2014 and December 2013 Flower Add-ons. The black lace "leaves" are sections of lace leftover from the October 2013 SOD kit. I have also tucked several of the beautiful Cousin Metal Charms (Embellishment Add-On) into the floral clusters. The title was made with the Authentique Letter stickers (Embellishment Add-on).

Thanks so much for your visit today! Happy Scrapping!

Steampunk Bride Tag - Scraps of Darkness Tag Exchange

Well, this post is a little late, but . . . .well, it is summer and I haven't stayed on top of my blog posting! In July, I played along with a Tag Exchange at Scraps of Darkness and was paired up with the amazingly talented Karen Zueger-Brownell (aka LostCoastScrapper). Now, I knew Karen was getting married in July, so I wanted to create a wedding-themed tag for her, but I wanted it to suit her 'style' (check out her fabulous blog to see her gorgeous work) - so I created this "Steampunk Bride" Tag using Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante!
I painted the top with Shimmerz black paint and then did some masking of the gears with molding paste, followed by some Perfect Pearls in Charcoal and Gold. I used fussy cut elements from the Steampunk Debutante papers around the tag, along with some rub-ons (e.g. the bride's wings). I added black lace at the bottom and top and embellished with metal Prima/Tim Holtz embellishments and a Prima mini light bulb.

That's it for today - short and sweet! Hope you liked the tag Karen!

Time to Remember ~~Imaginarium Designs~~

Today I am sharing a wedding layout created for Imaginarium Designs chipboard, using Prima's Lyric collection and based on the Prima BAP for July. The colours for my wedding were black, white, pink and silvery-grey - and this layout was created to reflect that. I had lots of fun doing some fussy-cutting, stitching, masking, and stamping on this one!
I did lots of fussy-cutting for this page - the most obvious being the two 'border' elements at the top and bottom of the layout. I attached these by machine stitching them with a couple of rough lines of stitching.
I used a Crafter's Workshop 6x6 Harlequin template with black gesso in the background of this layout and then did some stamping with a Prima Clear Stamp and Silver Pigment on top of the masked area. I fussy cut the banner-pennants, 'lace' and clock for the centre of the layout and did some more rough machine-stitching. Instead of  traditional journalling, I used some random Lyric collection word stickers around the photo.
I used an Imaginarium Designs phrase for the title - "Time to Remember" and treated it with Viva Colour Inca Gold Metallic Rub in Old Silver; this was my first time using this product and I just love the effect!
The clock was also treated with the Metallic Rub - but then I fussy cut a clock face from the Prima papers and added some Ingvild Bolme Vintage Trinkets Clock Hands to it. The fussy-cut clock was the perfect size to embellish the centre of the 4.5 inch Clock Face - love how this turned out!

Are You Ready? - Details and Close-ups (ScrapThat! March Kit)

Today, I'm sharing my second layout with the ScrapThat! March Kit. The photos are from my wedding day and are of me getting ready for my wedding, hence the title "Are You Ready?"
This is a very paper-heavy layout because I wanted to really feature how beautiful the Meg's Garden papers are. I tore two of the patterned papers to form the base for this layout - I wanted the scroll design on the papers to frame the layout - so used part of the green floral and part of the pink floral page to create this effect. I cut the striped paper using my Silhouette Cameo and then tore off the left edge of the die-cut and doubled up the fancy edge on the right side of the layout.
I used the white cardstock in the Kit to create a double-ended banner as a mat for the fussy-cut perfume label. I then used the leftover pink/green patterned paper (from creating the base page) to create the banner across the bottom of the layout.
I used the cream ribbon to create the ribbon swirls around the photos to help frame them and added a beaded flower from the Flower Add-on - I love how well this flower coordinated with the striped paper! The beautiful girl helping me get my necklace on in the photo is one of my very best friends - Amy!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I appreciate your visits and sweet comments so much!

True Love - Details and Closeups (ScrapThat! February Kit)

I thought I'd share with you the details and a few close-ups of my "True Love" layout - made with the gorgeous ScrapThat! February Kit "With Love" - featuring paper from Prima's "Romance Novel" collection. This layout is based on the Prima Build-a-Page sketch from January and I chose to scrap a picture of my husband from our wedding day.

This layout was made with the Main kit plus a few items from my stash (i.e. the keyhole heart, heart doilies; vellum and wood embellishments); the flowers are from the ScrapThat! December kit Flower Add-on and the metal Prima key is from the November kit Embellishment Add-on. I also used two colours of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Latte and Tattered Rose, as well as Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist in Cherry Cola
I used the Prima "Romance Novel" Wordsmith paper as the base page for this layout. I added the heart doilies and then stitched around the edge of the layout using a zig-zag stitch -- I wanted it to look sort of like a ECG readout. I cut lots of the smaller elements out of the Bookplate and Messenger papers to use in the layering and also used some Prima packaging in the layering.
Here is a close-up of the lower right side of the layout - the journalling is a quote from the P!nk song "True Love" - which also provided the title for the layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today. I appreciate your visits and sweet comments so much!
