May Tag - 12 Tags of 2013

Just a quick post today! I'm squeezing in just under the wire with my interpretation of Tim Holtz's May Tag for the 12 Tags of 2013.  I had a lot of fun getting inky and making this tag. I followed Tim's example pretty closely - though I substituted tissue tape for the film strip ribbon and crinkle ribbon, a philosophy tag for the enamel charm and an adage ticket for the word band. All in all, I'm pretty happy wIth how it turned out!

Here is a close-up of the tag!

Imaginarium Designs - April Tag

Today, I am sharing one of my April projects for Imaginarium Designs. (Check back next week for my second project!) This year, I am playing along with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013 - and this is my interpretation of his April Tag! I wanted to go for a monochromatic look with a pop of colours - so I started out by mod-podging some Tissue Wrap (Melange) onto the base tag - I knew I wanted to use a chipboard butterfly, so I intentionally used a section of the Tissue Wrap with a large butterfly. I used Film Strip Ribbon in place of the Crinkle Ribbon and stapled it to the top of the tag. I used three different Tissue Tapes - two from the Elements pack and one from the Symphony pack. In place of the metal corner, I used a rectangular Facet with Tissue Wrap mod-podged on the back - I used the section of wrap that had the definition of "Memory" on it. I added a jump ring and Swivel Clasp to the Facet and attached the Swivel Clasp to one of the embellishments. The flowers are all by Prima - I love the way the teal pops against the black and white tag!
The Imaginarium Designs embellishments and number are painted with black acrylic paint, to which I added some pearlizing medium (I wish this showed up better in the photos).  I added a couple of rhinestones to the centre of the embellishments and some Kaisercraft Tiny Alphas to the number so that it says "4-ever". The butterfly is painted with white metallic pearl acrylic paint and then I finger-smudged some Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink in Frosted Aqua around the edges of the wings and on the body/antennae. Here are some close-ups!

Happy Easter! 12 Tags of 2013- March

Happy Easter scrappy friends! I hope you're enjoying a wonderful Easter weekend! I've made it a scrappy goal this year to play along with all of Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2013 and I just finished my March tag in time (to see my January/February tags, go here). I followed Tim's design fairly closely this time - but as I didn't have the dies he used, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the shapes. (Have I mentioned how much I love my Silhouette Cameo?) Here is my tag and some close-ups - hope you like it!
I went with brown ribbon for the top of the tag because I thought it had a nice chocolate colour.  I didn't have crinkle ribbon (though definitely plan on acquiring some), so I used twine to wrap around the bunny cut-out and added an extra twine bow at the top. And, since I didn't have any of Tim's tinsel, I used flowersoft for the bunny cut-out - love how that turned out - a nice fluffy white bunny. I cut the bunny cut-out in more of an egg shape than Tim's design and also embossed it with my cuttlebug.
I decided to use a fussy-cut word in place of the banner element - so I cut this adorable Easter egg title and chicks from Tim's seasonal paper stash.
Finally, I added some flowers and a leaf from my stash as the floral element.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog - and Happy Easter!

Inspirational Tags - Imaginarium Designs

This is my second project for Imaginarium Designs this month - a pair of "Inspirational" Tags - loosely based on Tim Holtz's January/February Tags from the 12 Tags of 2013.
I cut the tags from some 7 Dots Studio paper from the Domestic Goddess collection. I started out my using a Crafter's Workship template (Mini Antiquities) with Martha Stewart White Texture Paste. I used Imaginarium Designs Edward Relief Chipboard collection for these tags. To coordinate with the background paper, I first coated them with gesso and then used a blend of three colours of Gelatos - Guava, Bubble Gum and Butter Cream. This was my first time working with the Gelatos and I loved the creamy texture and easy blending!

The sentiments were created with Tim Holtz Visual Artistry Stamps and some Memento Dye Ink in Rich Cocoa. I really wanted the sentiments to be prominent - so I stamped on some white paper (to match the stencilling) and mounted them on 3D Foam Adhesive. I created these tags as part of the 7 Dots Studio February challenge as a little gift to myself to display in my craft room - often need a little inspiration to get the crafty mojo going. Here are some close-ups of the tags!

I used three of the small Edward Relief and part of the Edward Relief Border chipboard on this tag. I added a Prima Wooden Clip, Making Memories leaves and some ribbon, lace and a rose from my stash (I misted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist a long time ago and can't remember what colour I used...)

For this tag, I added some May Arts Baker's Twine, a We R Memory Keepers Cameo and some ribbon from my stash.
